Megan’s Story

Our reporter caught up with Megan Ballantine star of the ‘Jack and the...’ series at her home in the Bridge of Weir.

Were you surprised to be offered the part in Jack and the starship simocom?

No! I wouldn’t say surprised. At the time I was attending the Glasgow School for Fictional Characters and my teacher told me that they were looking for a Scottish character. I fitted the bill.

What is it like working with the other characters?

It is good fun. We’re like a family really. When Jack and the find-it and plug-it bots was being written, we had to spend months away from home. That was hard. I missed my family but space is so cool. You don’t realise how many stars there are until you are up among them. The Milky Way just freaks me out.

Do you have a favourite character?

Mr Evans is cool. He always makes us laugh. The scene where he is squeezing himself into a vac suit really cracked me up. And he is always losing his hand - he just leaves it lying around everywhere. I once even found it in the bathroom.

The storyline can be quite scary sometimes. Does that bother you?

I guess I was quite scared when Baluran had me trapped in that dungeon but I knew that Jack and Trevor were looking for me. I knew that they would get me out. At the end of the day, I am a main character and it is too early to kill me off - later perhaps, when the author is looking for a sensation, then I might worry.
